long story short

I wanted a perm. I wanted to come home in two months with pretty, curly, long hair. I was afraid to get even a trim all year because of the language barrier and the difference between my fine hair and the hair of Korean women. Oh, the irony.

After the curlers came off, we discovered my hair was fried. Think Hermione Granger times about a hundred. So, without saying a word of warning to me, the stylist just started chopping off all my hair! You can imagine what went down, the deep sighs, the pointing frantically at pictures, the frustration, the tears. That was the hairdresser, not me. I was in shock. I actually didn't cry over it until I was shampooing my hair in the shower this morning.

I was in the salon on Sunday for almost five hours. In the end I felt terrible for the hairdresser. All I kept thinking was, "Put yourself in her shoes. If you don't stay calm, she will just freak out and end up cutting a bald spot in the side of your head." I got four or five haircuts before we finally settled on this one. My first and last trip to a Korean hair salon.

Here are pictures from yesterday and today. As you can see, I'm figuring out ways to style it. I can't bear to look at the back, let alone post a picture of it. The back is bad. I'm starting to get used to it. I'll admit, it's kind of fun playing with it in the morning. Will be investing in a lot of cute clips and new hair products. When life gives you lemons...
